SEATTLE — Officers chased down one of three suspects accused of robbing a teenager in the Brighton neighborhood.

Seattle police say a 21-year-old man and two others threatened a 15-year-old around 9:00 p.m. Thursday in the 5100 block of south Kenyon Street.

One of the suspects had a gun tucked into his shorts and told the victim to hand over his gold necklace or he would shoot him, police say. That’s when one of the suspects grabbed the chain off the boy’s neck — ripping his shirt and leaving a six-inch “bloody scratch” on his chest.

9-1-1 dispatchers sent officers to the scene who spotted the suspects near south Kenyon Street and 52nd Avenue south.

An officer told the 21-year-old suspect to stop, but he took off running past a home along Rainier Avenue. Another officer joined the foot chase on the 4800 block of south Holden Street.

Together, the officers cornered the man in a parking lot and cuffed him. Police say the suspect was out of breath, so they rolled him over. When officers did that, they saw a handgun tucked into his pants.

The suspect was booked into King County Jail. Police say he had several warrants out of Montlake Terrace. They checked the gun and discovered that it was reported stolen in Tacoma.

Officers are searching for the other two suspects.
