PIERCE COUNTY -- Several lakes in Pierce County are closed because of high, even toxic levels of algae.

Spanaway Lake and Ohop Lake near Eatonville are both under a "no swimming" advisory.

Twin Lakes and Whitman Lake in the Kapowsin area were also found to have elevated algae levels.

Health officials say you should not swim, wade or fish in these areas.

Norovirus sickens swimmers

Norovirus is to blame for sickening hundreds of swimmers at a popular local beach, according to health officials.

A total of 260 swimmers reported symptoms for the highly contagious bug after swimming in Horshoe Lake.

The park is closed until test results on the lake's water come back from the Centers for Disease Control.

Dash Point Park in Federal Way is also closed for high levels of bacteria in the water.
