Cool idea, but wouldnt a door handle with lock be less expensive? ie: a deadbolt and the teacher has the key for their own room

  • A Teacher

A VERY bad idea. Let me tell you why. 1. Students can use this to prevent an adult from entering a room. For "nice" kids this is not a problem. For gang bangers, this is a real problem. For kids who are committing assault or rape (believe me it happens but teachers are not allowed to tell) this would prevent anyone from helping the victim. 2. A shooter could use this to hold a classroom of kids hostage. Just like it would work for anyone else, it would be very helpful to the shooter. He could effectively lock the door with this and then pick off the kids in the room one by one. He wouldn't even have to hurry. This device would also be a nightmare in a fire. The best use for this device, I think, is in homes. I'd buy it for my house.
