OLYMPIA, Wash – You may be once again voting to reduce the size of your child’s class this fall.

Supporters of Initiative 1351 announced Wednesday that they had collected and submitted more than 325-thousand signatures to the Washington Secretary of State which if verified will qualify I-1351 for the ballot.

Supporters say I-1351 would cap class size for grades K-3 at 17 kids and at 25 kids for grades 4-12.  The initiative also requires an even lower class size for schools serving low-income kids.

Opponents claim bloated school bureaucracies and intransigent unions are more to blame for problems in Washington’s schools.
