SEATTLE – A chaotic shooting scene on Beacon Hill early Tuesday sent one man to the hospital and detectives from the gang unit to investigate.

Police said they were called to the 2900 block of 12th Ave South just after 3:00 a.m. to reports of gunfire.

“Well I was asleep and all of a sudden I heard this pow, pow, pow and it was like 6-7 times," said neighbor Jan Gerry.
"And I immediately picked up the phone and called police and told them I was pretty sure it was gunshots."

When officers arrived at the address they found spent casings on the street and sidewalk and at least one car which had been hit by a gunshot. A home nearby was also damaged.

Police said they have since learned a 21-year-old man was taken to Harborview with gunshot wounds to his face and chest. He is in serious condition.

Gang detectives are said to know who the man is and have identified at least three witnesses, but so far what sparked the shooting is not know.
