U.S. Marshals nab dangerous child rapist trying to escape country on plane

wesley webFUGITIVE CAPTURED June 27, 2014 -- U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations, (OFO) at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport arrested Wesley Clinton Gray, 58, on an active warrant for alleged failure to register as a sex offender. “CBP officers arrested this sex offender after a positive identity match revealed that he was the subject of a U.S. Marshals Service arrest warrant,” said Mark W. Wilkerson, CBP Field Operations Area Port Director in Seattle. “This is another fine example of our CBP border search authority in action and our partnership and collaboration with our law enforcement partners to catch fugitives who try to flee from the law.” Gray, who has an extensive criminal history, to include rape of a child-1, prostitution, and multiple counts of failure to register as a sex offender, was attempting to flee the country and board a flight destined to the Arab Emirates on June 26, 2014 when CBP officers arrested him. Prior to his arrest, Gray had removed his court-ordered tracking device in an effort to evade law enforcement. There were also reports that Gray was seen frequenting parks with children present. In addition, research revealed that Gray sold his house, his vehicle, and cleared out his bank accounts, preceding his attempted departure from the U.S. CBP officers arrested Gray and he was turned over to the U.S. Marshals Service. WANTED BY U.S. MARSHALS IN SEATTLE May 15, 2014 – Wesley Gray is wanted by the Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force for breaking probation. Marshals say Gray packed up his belongings in his Seattle apartment last week, cutoff his GPS monitoring device, and took off. He was convicted of child rape  in Pierce County in 1990. Gray failed his sexual deviancy treatment program in 2012, and Marshals say they are very concerned about the threat he poses, especially after recent information they received about him talking about fantasies involving children and public sex acts. Gray has ties to California, specifically to the Chula Vista area.
