SPOKANE COUNTY -- Spokane County detectives need help solving a woman's murder. Her body was found caught in a tree by the Spokane River near east Empire Avenue and north Butler Road back in January. The woman has now recently been identified as 58-year-old Maria Guadalupe Vega. Detectives say she's from Tijuana, Mexico and crossed into the U.S. last September. They say she was supposed to head to a hotel in Las Vegas but never made it. Spokane detectives are working with the Mexican consulate to track down any information on her. If you knew Maria Guadalupe Vega, or saw her anytime before her body was found, detectives want to hear from you.
