Mariners win fifth straight, beat Red Sox 8-2
Seattle -- The Seattle Mariners used power hitting and terrific pitching for the second straight night as they beat the Red Sox at Safeco Field, 8-2 on Tuesday. It was the Mariners fifth consecutive win. They are six games over .500 and are tied for the American League Wild Card.
The 26-year-old third baseman also maintained his club-leading home run total with 11, one ahead of Mike Zunino after the young catcher followed with a solo blast of his own in the fifth inning.
The Mariners will try to sweep the Red Sox on Wednesday evening.
