The break-in occurred at about 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 15, when burglars got up on a ledge and entered a second-floor window in the Legislative Building, a State Patrol spokesman said. They stole Native American blankets and a mask, a bottle of wine that was a gift, and a ceremonial State Patrol campaign hat.
"We don't think they knew it was the governor's office," State Patrol spokesman Bob Calkins said.
A State Patrol trooper, who had been briefed on the stolen items, pulled a car speeding near Chehalis Monday night and noticed the ceremonial State Patrol hat in the car, along with the now-empty bottle of wine lying on the car floor, according to the report. The driver, a 22-year-old woman from Oregon, was arrested. The second suspect was arrested on Tuesday afternoon.
