Help Des Moines police 'Chief for a Day' throw out first pitch at Mariners game

Chief Delgado pins a badge on MosesDES MOINES -- He's only six years old but come August, a Des Moines boy will get to be ‘Chief for a Day.’ The photo above shows Chief George Delgado pinning a Des Moines police badge on Moses Steven's uniform. Moses has leukemia, but come August 21st he'll get to shadow the chief, even go to meetings with community members. “I think Moses really feels excited,” said his mom, Keyrose Thomas. “He feels like everybody really cares for him.” Moses also has the chance to throw out the first pitch at the Mariners game on Sunday, August 10th. "Usually what happens is a chief gets the opportunity to do that if the agency successfully sells 600 tickets,” said Chief Delgado. “In this case, we thought what a perfect opportunity to have that little guy out there and really touch lives at the same time, being able to live a dream of throwing out a first pitch.” So, let's help Moses out and give him the thrill of a lifetime!
