Police: Men looking for girlfriend spurs gunfire, 3 injured

Two people were shot Thursday morning on MLK Way.

RENTON -- Police are looking for a suspects in an early morning shooting that injured three Thursday.

Renton Police say they got a call for help at 3 a.m. Thursday from neighbors at the Sunset View Apartments in the 13000 block of MLK  Jr. Way South. Neighbors say they heard a lot of gunfire from inside their apartment, and police arrived on scene to find two injured victims and plenty of shell casings.

According to preliminary reports, two men in a white vehicle were driving around town looking for one of the men's 19-year-old girlfriend, who was in a vehicle with two other males. The two men in the white pulled up behind the other vehicle and noticed the girlfriend in the car. Apparently taking offense, the men in the front vehicle got out of the car and opened fire on the white vehicle.

One of the victims in the white car ran from the car and was shot, police said, and the other victim returned fire. The woman sustained gunshot wounds as did the man who exited the vehicle. They were both transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Another male arrived at Harborview shortly after with non-critical gunshot wounds, and the investigation thus far indicates it is highly likely that he was in the second vehicle at the scene.  The other male in the suspect vehicle has yet to be identified.

Anyone who witnessed the crime or has knowledge of the incident is asked to contact Detective Barfield at 425-430-7500 reference case 14-6545.
