Firefighter hurt in Seattle boarding house fire

SEATTLE -- Investigators are trying to figure out what caused a fire at a Seattle boarding house on the 4200 block of South Mead Street.

Fire crews said the fire started in the basement just before 11:00 p.m. Thursday.

People were throwing their belongings out of the home when firefighters arrived, officials said.

One firefighter suffered minor burns.

The American Red Cross is providing assistance to the eight people forced out of the home.
