EVERETT — One person was killed Friday morning in an apartment fire in Everett.

Everett fire investigators said that the fire in one unit may have been intentionally set. This happened around 2:45 a.m. in the 8500 block of West Casino Way.

Everett police responded to the apartments for a report of  “malcious mischief.”  The caller said they heard breaking glass.

When police arrived they saw smoke from the apartment building, called the fire department, and helped evacuate residents, police said.

Firefighters found one person dead in one of the apartment units; all of the other tenants got out safely.

The American Red Cross responded to care for and shelter evacuated residents.

The exact cause of the fire, and the damage amount, have not been determined. Everett police are conducting their own investigation of the fire.
