SEATTLE — Two of five teenagers suspected of assaulting a man and breaking his jaw on a Sound Transit light-rail train last week have been arrested, the King County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.

Detectives reviewed surveillance footage of the incident and arrested two boys — a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old — the day after the incident, the sheriff’s office said. Both teens were booked into the Youth Services Center for investigation of felony assault.

Detectives said they are still seeking three suspects in the case.

The assault occurred March 20 aboard a light-rail train heading into Seattle from the airport.

The victim, Damien Villareal, was repeatedly punched and kicked by the five suspects when he tried to defuse a situation where the group of teens were harassing a couple on the train.

Villareal, said in an interview with Q13 FOX News last Friday, March 21, that the incident started when one of the teens started smoking a cigarette on the train and a couple with a young child asked the teen if he could stop smoking.

Villareal said the smoker and his friends began harassing the couple, scaring the woman, who began pushing the train’s emergency button. When there was no immediate response, Villareal said he stepped in.

“I couldn’t stand for it and felt I needed to say something, especially with the baby on the (woman’s) chest,” Villareal said. “What am I going to do?”

He said he tried to calm the group of teens down, but they attacked him.

“I had my hands out and I said I’m not going to fight you, and he just sucker-punched me right in my face and broke my jaw,” Villareal said.

He tackled one of the teenagers and tried to pin him down, but they all got away at the Columbia City stop.

The sheriff’s office said the video of the assault will not be released while the investigation is ongoing.

should bring these kids parents in as well. they obviously don't pay enough attention to what their children are up to. this was surely NOT an isolated incident of bad behavior.

If anyone who was involved in this cowardly attack is reading this: You are possibly the most worthless human creatures known to this earth. That young man was learning, spending his time to become a man who would defend the likes of you. You need to make amends, even if the police won't find you God has seen what you have done. He didn't deserve any of this, in your life you can never be 1% of the man he is. He is one of the most gentle souls I have ever met. The most heartbreaking part of this is if you are caught HE will probably advocate for you.

I would like to add to that, if you don't mind. The P U N K S that did the assault showed everyone just how "tough" they were. By attacking a SINGLE person in a GROUP (Yeea REAL TOUGH) , Bothering a woman with a baby (Another "REAL TOUGH" act). If the "tough" (YEEA RIGHT) guys mature a little more, than in a few years they ""might" graduate UP enough that ALL OF THEM COMBINED "might" become as tough as a 2 YEAR OLD LITTLE GIRL(only 1 of course. two 2YO girls might be too much for these "tough" guys).

Sadly you are right… What is going to happen when one of these punks gets a hold of a gun. It is obvious that no one taught them anything about morals, values or even self worth. People who value themselves don't treat others this way. I hope that CPS is interviewing other children in these homes.

I don't have much hope for the future of these suspects. If they're already ignoring the law and respect for their fellow citizens, there's not much chance they'll improve or change. We do have expensive jails and prisons ready for them.
Those boys that killed the Tube Man continued to be criminals after getting a break in court. Young violent criminals need to be dealt with harshly.
That whole part of south Seattle is dangerous and should be avoided. Too many single parent (or non-parent) homes are breeding a class of violent punks that will kill you for your cell phone.

It's sad that young people resort to a criminal lifestyle when they have so many other positive opportunities in Seattle. Young and stupid.
