Woman fights for life after SUV hits her on Seattle street

SEATTLE -- A woman crossing Denny Way at Dexter Avenue was hit by an SUV and authorities say her injuries are life-threatening.

Seattle Police say it happened at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night at the busy intersection in downtown Seattle.  The SUV, a Nissan Pathfinder, was headed south on Dexter and approaching Denny when the driver made a left turn and hit the 26-year old woman.

The woman, who's name has not been released, was immediately taken to Harborview Medical Center with serious head injuries.

Police say there's no evidence the 51-year-old driver of the Pathfinder wasn't drunk or on drugs, but they are continuing to investigate.

The intersection of Denny and Dexter has been an especially dangerous intersection due because it is a busy crossroads for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers.
