Graco recallMINNEAPOLIS (Minn.) – Nearly 3.8 million Graco car seats have been recalled because they may trap kids during an emergency. The problem is with the red release buckle in the harness.

There are more than 80 reports of parents having to use excessive force to get them to unlatch. In fact, some parents had to cut the straps to free their children. Thankfully, there haven’t been injuries reported.

The recall covers 11 different models sold since 2009. Those include the Cozy Cline, Comfort Sport, Classic Ride 50, My Ride 65, My Ride 65 with Safety Surround, My Ride 70, Size4Me 70, My Size 70, Head Wise 70 and Smart Seat. The harnessed booster seats that are part of the recall are the Nautilus 3-in-1, Nautilus Elite and Argos.

Graco is also offering free replacement buckles for the seven other models it refuses to recall, despite demands from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. People can obtain a replacement buckle by calling 800-345-4109 or emailing
