A Pierce County sheriff’s deputy said the suspect was cut down and revived. He then told police what had happened.

It was unclear how the child was killed, the deputy said, but blunt-force trauma was involved.

According to the Tacoma News Tribune, the father called 911 around 11 a.m. from the Woodmark Apartments to report he had killed his daughter and planned on killing himself.

The suspect had recently been released from a mental hospital.

The little girl’s mother was called to the apartments by police following the crime. She was distraught, but helping with the investigation, police said.

I'm confused as to why he was alone with his daughter if he was just released from a mental hospital? Someone made a VERY bad call in allowing him to be with her alone.

Why in the world did he have his daughter unsupervised if he recently been released from a mental institution? Once again Child protective services have failed yet another innocent child. This is so sad!

My first thought was. "Why did they revive him!?" then my second thought was "well..Now he will get raped and beat repeatedly in prison because he killed a child" so that made me feel better. But if he pleads insanity or mentally ill, then he wont get prison :(.

I understand why CPS wouldn't be there, he was the girl's father and there was probably no case filed with them because the parents were separated. What I don't get is why the police are saying that it wasn't because of the mental illness. What else would cause that?
