'Catastrophic' winter storm forces canceled flights in Seattle

SEATTLE -- A winter storm even in the Southeast is canceling flights across the entire country, and a handful of planes in Seattle, bound for Atlanta, have been grounded or rerouted.

Atlanta is the busiest airport in the country, and this winter storm will affect thousands of people traveling today as the region gets hit with ice and snow.

Several flights in and out of Seatac airport were canceled this morning, and several travelers were scrambling trying to rebook flights. We ran into several people who had their travel plans ruined by this latest round of winter weather.

Kent Tooman was taking his family on a trip to Guatemala but but there is no chance of them ever getting there anytime soon.

Too man said, "I’m supposed to get a cup of coffee and call this number and wait for 2 hours and maybe rebook they suggest we rebook in March or April or something like that."

If you are flying at all this week, you should check your flight status. Several flights will be impacted by this winter storm all week long as it continues to punish the southeastern region.
