SEATTLE — The Washington Machinists Council will no longer endorse U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen, D-Wash., in large part for his role in calling for this month’s Boeing contract vote.

Council president Dan Morgan released a statement Monday outlining the reason why the union was pulling support for Larsen, who is in a re-election year.

“By pressing for a vote, Larsen helped Boeing strip away pensions and health care benefits,” Morgan said in a statement. “While we don’t expect the Congressman to side with us, Boeing doesn’t need Larsen’s help to drive down wages and benefits for working families.”

In early Dec., Larsen urged the Machinists to allow a vote their union members to vote on Boeing’s second contract offer. Machinists narrowly approved that contract, which replaced the union’s pension with a 401k  retirement plan, by a narrow margin on Jan. 3.

Morgan cited Larsen’s role in pushing for the Jan. 3 vote as the main reason the Machinists Council would no longer support Larsen.

“The Machinists Union has had a good working relationship with Representative Larsen, but we cannot endorse a candidate who interferes with our collective bargaining processes,” Morgan said.

You can rest assured that I will NOT vote for this backstabber. Thank you Rick Larsen for helping to eliminate the middle class blue collar worker!! I will work diligently to educate and inform everyone I know to stop backing self serving in the pocket of Boeing and big business politicians like Rick Larsen and Jay Inslee. SNAKES

yeah, I doubt Mr. Larsen is too worried. all the WA workers whose jobs he DID save (including the intelligent Boeing workers that voted yes on the contract) by urging that yes vote, which will enable not only Boeing jobs but many other jobs that rely on Boeing staying here, including such mundane jobs (meaning that the stupid Boeing workers just don't get that these jobs rely on you!) as grocery worker, and many service oriented workers such as fast food restaurants (you Boeing guys LOVE to grab fast food while on the job!), will get to keep their jobs now.

and YES, I am the wife of a Boeing mechanic. I'm sure you can guess how he voted. he never relied on a pension, and instead has been putting money in GASP! 401K/VIP, savings accounts. oh, and not buying big fancy trucks and big screen tvs or an expensive house.
