Man arrested for allegedly driving car over parking enforcement officer's foot

SEATTLE -- A 38-year-old man was arrested for felony assault and hit-and-run Wednesday after he allegedly backed his car over the foot of a Seattle parking enforcement officer who was trying to give him a ticket.

Police said that at about 2:55 p.m., a parking enforcement officer was writing a parking ticket in the 3900 block of Linden Avenue North when the owner of the car arrived and got into his vehicle. The officer told the man she was giving him a ticket, but he refused to accept it, police said, and he started his car and backed up, rolling over the foot of the officer.

The officer, in pain, demanded the driver stop. He responded that he would park the car, but then drove off in an evasive manner, police said.

The officer was taken to an area hospital for treatment of her foot injury. Her condition was not immediately known.

Police officers went to the suspect's address and arrested him upon his return home.
