Man steals phone and wallet from woman waiting at a bus stop

SEATTLE - Police are looking for a man who stole  a cell phone and wallet from a woman waiting at a south Seattle bus stop on Sunday.

Just before noon, a 59-year old female was standing at a bus stop at Beacon Ave. S. and S. Columbian Way when a man ran up from behind her and snatched her phone and wallet out of her hand.

The suspect fled southbound on Beacon Ave. S. and jumped into a waiting orange cab.  A witness driving by saw the suspect jump into the cab, and followed it for about four blocks where it stopped and the suspect got out and fled.

Responding officers searched the are but were not able to find the suspect.

Before officers arrived on scene, the driver of the cab spoke with the witness and claimed he did not know his fare was a suspect.  The cab driver told the witness the suspect had given him $5 to wait for him.

The victim was not injured during the incident.
