2 injured in shooting at New Year's party in West Seattle

SEATTLE - Seattle police are looking for a gunman after a man was shot at a New Year's Eve Party in West Seattle.

Police responded to a home in the 9200 block of 16th Avenue SW just after 11 p.m. Tuesday night for reports of shots fired.

When officers arrived, they found one man in 40s with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso, police said. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition. A 22-year-old woman was also shot in the hand.

Police described a chaotic scene at the party, with many still outside the party when police arrived.

Police say they've received conflicting reports of what led up to the shooting, as well as varying descriptions of the shooting suspect, so there is no suspect description available yet.

Police say even though the shooter has not been arrested, they believe there is not an immediate threat to anyone in the area.

Police are investigating the shooting.
