Prison officials: Inmate may have been dead in his cell for 37 hours

 MONROE -- A prison inmate may have been dead in his Monroe Correctional Complex cell for more than 37 hours.

An autopsy by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office could not pinpoint the time of death Monroe inmae Jerry Jamison, 48, reports The Everett Herald.

Records show his television was turned off at 10:28pm on Sept. 19 and Jamison was found dead in his cell just before noon on Sept. 19, according to the Herald. Several routine checks were made on Jamison's cell, but investigators found staff and other inmates assumed Jamison was sleeping.

The autopsy found Jamison died of a progressive heart disease. He was serving a sentence for drug crimes and eluding police, the Herald reports..
