Man allegedly attacked FedEx drivers in attempt to steal packages

PORT ORCHARD -- A 30-year-old Port Orchard man allegedly attacked two FedEx drivers after he was spotted Thursday trying to steal boxes out of a delivery truck, the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office said.

The suspect was in the back of a FedEx truck allegedly stealing packages Thursday when he was spotted by two company drivers in the 3000 block of NE Randall Way. The FedEx drivers attempted to stop the man, who "freaked out"  and attacked the drivers before fleeing the scene, sheriff's deputy Scott Wilson said.

One of the drivers suffered a broken nose and the other suffered a cut face in the melee. It was unknown if the suspect ran away with any packages.

Sheriff's deputies said the suspect dropped his wallet at the scene, which help lead to his arrest two hours after the incident. The suspect was found in possession of a meth pipe, a stolen .22 firearm and other drug paraphernalia, the sheriff's office said.

According to the Kitsap Sun, the man was charged with second-degree assault, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of heroin Friday.
