City of Hoquiam declaring April 10 as Nirvana Day

HOQUIAM -- The city of Hoquiam said it will declare a day to honor one of the Pacific Northwest's most legendary bands.

According to KXRO Newsradio, April 10, 2014, will be Nirvana Day in Hoquiam, coinciding with the band's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that same day.

Although the band's roots are in Aberdeen, the mayor of Hoquiam said that Nirvana had a huge impact on all of the Grays Harbor area.

Nirvana has sold more than 75 million albums worldwide.

In addition to Nirvana, other artists who will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014 are KISS, Hall and Oates, Peter Gabriel, Linda Ronstadt and Cat Stevens.
