MilkPULLMAN – WSU researchers say the next time you buy milk, you should go organic. Researchers tested nearly 400 samples of organic and conventional milk as part of their study.

They say organic milk seems to contain a better ratio of the heart-healthy fatty acids, omega three and omega six. They were able to determine organic milk is two and a half times better than conventional milk when it comes to healthy fatty acids.

“This is one of the largest differences in terms of nutritional quality brought about by organic farming,” Chuck Benbrook, WSU researcher said. “Organic farmers understand that grasses and forages are the healthiest for their cattle and that’s what they try to provide and the evidence shows up very clearly in the milk of those cows.”

However, some may take this study with a grain of salt. A company that sells organic dairy products funded it.
