Amazon, Nordstrom shoppers only behind Walmart shoppers in social media

SEATTLE -- Social media is everywhere these days and many businesses use it to get the word out about deals and steals. New data found that Amazon and Nordstrom customers are near the top of social media usage.

Shareablee Inc., a social business intelligence platform, compiled data on shoppers, brands and social media usage. While Walmart shoppers topped the list, Amazon and Nordstrom shoppers came in at second and third place respectively.

Shareablee said that around 20 percent of social word of mouth share comes from Walmart shoppers. Amazon customers account for 8 percent and Nordstrom customers are not too far behind that with 7.96 percent.

Tania Yuki, the CEO of Shareablee, said that when customers share and tweet about a company's brand, it is a huge indicator of brand loyalty. She added that social media reach surrounding major shopping events like Black Friday could help boost sales for some retailers.
