Nine dogs rescued from Alderwood Manor house fire

LYNNWOOD -- Firefighters rescued nine dogs from a fire that caused heavy damage to an unoccupied Alderwood Manor home Thursday night.

Neighbors called 911 at about 6:15 p.m. to report smoke and flames coming from the two-story house in the 300 block of 197th St. SW in unincorporated Snohomish County east of Lynnwood, a spokeswoman for Snohomish County Fire District 1 said.

The residents – a couple and their adult children – were away at the time of the fire.

The family raises and breeds King Charles spaniels, the spokesman said. Six full-grown dogs and three puppies were inside the house when the fire broke out.

“All nine dogs made it out safely with the help of firefighters,” said Leslie Hynes, public information officer for Snohomish County Fire District 1.

She said the second floor of the house was already engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. Firefighters from Fire District 1, Fire District 7, Lynnwood and Bothell responded and had the fire under control within 15 minutes. No one was injured.

The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office is conducting an investigation to determine how the fire started.
