Two arrested in mysterious slaying of grouse hunter

CHESAW -- Police were perplexed when a grouse hunter from Hoquiam seemed to be shot out of thin air while on a hunting trip this September in remote Okanagan County.

But now, police have arrested father and son suspects in the shooting.

According to the Omak Chronicle, Adam Shaun Jennings, 27, and John Wayne Jennings, 57, were arrested in the shooting of 52-year-old Michael Carrigan.

Carrigan was on a remote road in Okanagan County with a hunting partner when he stepped out of his truck to fire a shot at a game bird. According to police, Carrigan's hunting partner heard a shot from the woods and saw Carrigan fall to the ground. An autopsy determined he was shot in the back.

Adam and John Wayne were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of first-degree murder, the Omak Chronicle reported. Adam Jennings was also arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm.

This is one of five suspected murders to occur in Okanagan County this year.
