SEATTLE – Dozens of demonstrators took to the streets Wednesday morning in a march to homelessness across King County.

homelessThe demonstrators slept in Westlake Park overnight and began their march to Seattle City Hall around 7:40 this morning.

Demonstrators marched to City Hall for a meeting with the Board of Governors and a group called the Committee to End Homelessness Wendesday in an effort to secure for more funding and housing.

Organizers of the march hope to get 1,000 homeless people off the streets by the summer of 2014, they said.

A 2013 study conducted by the Seattle/King County Coalition on Homelessness found that at least 2,736 men, woman and children were out on the street during a three hour street count.

This is a terrible reality for too many people. What they need are some jobs, which have been taken by the hard working recent immigrants. Get real, you've been out hustled for work and good jobs require more training and college. Let's not forget that major companies have taken a lot jobs to China.

These guys aren't homeless because they don't have jobs. They are homeless because they would rather beg for money to use for drugs or alcohol than get a job and make something of themselves. I see these young able bodied men walking around downtown Olympia begging for money all the time. It's ridiculous. We need to shame them and judge them. Being lazy and unproductive isn't ok. The ones that have mental problems lets help them and get them treatment.

We can only help the ones that want to help themselves. The ones that are homeless by choice can't be helped (and yes there are people although very few, that are homeless by choice) so let's find way to help the ones that are willing to help themselves and help them.
