The are homeless people living under the convention center and near Freeway Park. They are always dumping their trash and debris onto the freeway. Perhaps, one of them fell.

Yeah, I was the person who called 9-1-1 and waited with the man until the police showed up. First of all, he wasn't dead when we found him, but he was dying. Blood was coming out of his nose and mouth. I held his hand from the time i arrived until the police and first responders showed up.

Why the police would suspect he jumped is beyond me, largely due to the fact that when I found him, he was wearing a backpack and coat. The backpack suggests to me he had a destination, why the heck would anyone jump off a bridge with a backpack on.. It ain't like they'd take it with them!

It makes me sad that they would be so rash in releasing that unfounded conclusion, as I am sure the family of that man could be caused undue extra hurt over such a comment! It's not just a story, he was a person.. A living breathing soul. A son, maybe a father… We are all in this together. What happens to one effects us all! Homeless or not. We are the family of mankind. We would do well to start acting the part!
