Man in custody after 4-hour standoff with police

Crime-Scene-TapeMARYSVILLE - A man is in custody after firing several shots during a standoff with police in Marysville.

Just after 8 p.m. Tuesday night, police responded to a reported domestic violence assault in the 8500 block of 60th Dr. N.E.

Officers learned a 42-year old man had been depressed over the recent breakup of his marriage and had been threatening suicide during a conversation with a roommate earlier in the day.

The roommate left the home to find the suspect's wife, and during that time, neighbors say the suspect fired a shot in his backyard.

The wife came to the home and attempted to get the man to give her his guns, but the suspect pointed a shotgun at her.  The wife was able to safely leave the backyard, but called police when she heard a second gunshot.

Shortly before midnight, police were able to make contact with the suspect and he came out of the residence without further incident.
