Youth worker accused of molesting young neighbor

ISSAQUAH - A 25-year old Issaquah man who worked as a camp counselor in the area has been arrested on child molestation charges.

Jeremiah Helfer is accused of molesting an 11-year-old neighbor of his on multiple occasions this past summer.

The boy's mother reported the alleged abuse to Child Protective Services earlier this month.  CPS then contacted the Issaquah Police.

Police say Helfer has worked or volunteered with various organizations in the area that would have put him in contact with juveniles, but the investigation so far indicates that the crimes are isolated to this suspect and victim in private homes.

Helfer remains in the King County Jail on charges of child molestation and indecent exposure.  He'll be arraigned on October 30.
