Former youth baseball coach sentenced to 25 years for child porn

MAPLE VALLEY, Wash. -- A family law attorney and former youth baseball coach was sentenced in federal court Monday to 25 years in prison for producing and possessing child pornography, according to U.S. Attorney Jenny Durkan.

David Engle, 50, of Maple Valley, who was arrested in November, earlier pleaded guilty to the charges.

Engle first came to the attention of authorities who were investigating an international movie production company that operated a website offering DVDs and streaming videos. The materials showed young boys in sexually explicit activity.  Engle had purchased 184 different items from the company's website, prosecutors said.

When agents searched his home and storage locker, prosecutors said, they found more than 500 videos of Engle sexually molesting a boy under the age of 16.  They later found other evidence of Engle sexually molesting another young boy.  They also found tens of thousands of images of child porn, and thousands more child porn videos.

The King County Prosecutor's Office will prosecute Engle on the molestgation charges, Durkan said.

Engle not only volunteered for youth baseball organizations, he also ran a business involving youth baseball.   Prosecutors say they sought a long sentence, because he betrayed the trust put in him by the community.
