Driver runs over man who attacks his van, yells racial slurs

SEATTLE -  A skateboarder was rushed to Harborview Medical Center Sunday night after a run-in with a driver in north Seattle.

Police said the skateboarder blocked the path of a mini-van stopped at a traffic light near NW. 80th St. and 15th Ave. NW. around 5 p.m, and yelled racial slurs at the driver. The the skateboarder smashed the hood of the van and shattered its windshield with his skateboard, police said.

The driver stepped on the gas, ran over the upset skateboarder and dragged him about 15 feet.

Witnesses rushed over and picked up the rear of the van and pulled the skateboarder free. He was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the mini-van was uninjured.  He was questioned by police and released pending a further investigation.
