Target pushes for tougher standards on beauty and household products

Target is launching a new policy that’s putting pressure on its suppliers to take harmful chemicals out of their products.

According to the Mercury News, the company is focusing on household cleaners and beauty supplies.

Target is calling it the Sustainable Product Standard.

Right now, the personal care products industry is mostly unregulated, according to the article.

However, consumers and activist groups are growing increasingly vocal about wanting safer products.

Target carries more than 7,000 beauty, cleaning and baby care items.
