patty murray2SEATTLE — Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.), in her first trip back to Washington state since the end of the government shutdown, told an audience in Mukilteo, “My God, it’s great to be home.”

Murray was there to celebrate the landmark transfer of the 20-acre former tank farm from the Air Force to the Port of Everett, something she has been working on for years.

The transfer of property is an effort to help revitalize the waterfront and also create space for a new Mukilteo Ferry Terminal.

Murray also spoke to reporters about the new committee she is chairing with Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.), in the wake of the compromise this week that ended the government shutdown.

She said she is confident she can come up with a workable budget with her Republican counterpart by the Dec. 13 deadline. She also  said the country needs to heal from the pain inflicted by the shutdown.

“The country is still bruised from the small group of people in D.C. who wanted ‘My way or the highway’,” she said.

And that is a direct reflection of its leadership. I'll just leave this quote from Obama here. You know I bet liberal looney Murray probably agreed with him at the time. And it is funny that an insignificant(according to her party) throw away group now has the power to stop the country. More out of touch politics but I don't expect Murray to get it since she has lived in her liberal bubble for most of her working career. She is a SHINING example of TERM LIMITS! And I am disgusted by the spineless Republicans from this state. I will never vote another RINO in again. And now the famous hypocritical quote:

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a Sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. …Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that 'the buck stops here'. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and Grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better." – Barack Obama

Guess what Obama I agree! You fail.

No, Republicans failed. Bush gave big tax breaks to the upper income people and companies. Sorry your world is backwards and upside down. Typical low information voter.

      GOP is Anti-America.

Wall Street is getting richer while the average Joe on the street has to sign up for this medical care that no one can access. Who is President right now, and what did he promise?

why do all the uninformed morons blame everything on the republicans? there is plenty of blame to go around. nobody is blameless in this mess.

    • guest

so, Obama seems to have a grasp of the problem, why isn't he doing anything about it? you are right, he is a hypocrite to the 10th degree! and certainly not much of a leader.

Let the politicking go on. The Democrats are going to milk the effects of the shutdown for all it's worth into next year's elections. Unfortunately, it may work.

The GOP shutdown is a major blunder and shows how out touch the conservatives really are. The rich people backing the Tea Party want America to fail. They are not patriotic at all.
