Police identify 17-year-old boy killed in possible homicide

TACOMA -- Medical examiners identified a 17-year-old boy who was shot and killed Friday in south Tacoma in a possible homicide.

Jalon Bea was shot around 4 p.m. near the intersection of South G and South 43rd streets while hanging out with a group of friends, police said. The friends took him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made in the shooting, but it is being investigated as a homicide, the Tacoma News Tribune reported. Some initial reports indicate that the teens may have been playing around with the gun when it went off.
