Intel to relocate about 350 Washington workers

SEATTLE -- An Intel spokesperson confirmed Monday that the chip-maker will be putting its Dupont, Wash., site on the market, which in turn means that about 350 employees would be offered positions at another Intel location.

Jonathan Williams, with Intel, said the company hopes to lease the building back. Locally, Intel currently employs 690 people and are hoping to employ 310 employees at the Dupont facility with the lease in place.

Of the current employees, 350 will be “offered the opportunity to relocate with the company” at other Intel locations, most likely the majority of those people will relocate to Oregon, Williams said.

About 30 employees are being moved into a "redeployment pool," Williams added. Those employees' current positions will be eliminated, but they are being offered the opportunity to apply for other positions within the company.
