Thanksgiving airfare prices jump

SEATTLE -- Get ready to pay more if you plan on catching a flight for the Thanksgiving holiday.

According to Travelocity, prices will be higher this year. The travel website predicts the average round-trip domestic airfare, including tax, will be $415. That would be a near seven percent increase from last year.

Travelocity said that $415 is the price to beat this year and should be used as a gauge in shopping for airfare. The website offered these tips for holiday travel:

-Book between Oct. 8 through Nov. 9.

-Be flexible on travel dates.

-Search alternate airports

-Take the first flight of the day.

-Pack smart and light.
