Missing mushroom picker found dead

LEWIS COUNTY -- A 68-year-old Auburn man missing since late September has been found dead in Lewis County.  The Sheriff's Office says family members found the body of Saykham Tiansevilay yesterday.  He was hunting for mushrooms when he vanished September 28th.  Search and Rescue teams spent days looking for him in the Packwood area, and were planning to bring search dogs back this weekend.

The family found his body on top of a ridge.  It's thickly forested, rugged, steep, and dangerous terrain.  The Sheriff's Office says it appears that Mr. Tiansevilay slid about 40 feet down a steep embankment.  They say it also appears that he suffered from hypothermia.

It's not uncommon for family and friends to continue searching for lost or missing loved ones, even after an official search has ended.

Sheriff Steve Mansfield says it's a good reminder "how important it is to let your family know exactly where you are going, and when you will be back.  Having proper supplies and a buddy with you when going into the wilderness can make the difference between life and death."
