Two girls hit by car in Lacey; injuries minor, police say

LACEY -- A 5-year-old girl and a 12-year-old girl were hit by a car Tuesday afternoon while crossing a street in Lacey, but suffered only minor injuries, police said.

Both were taken to St. Peter Hospital.

Police said the older girl had taken the hand of the 5-year-old and thought the road was clear. As they began to cross the road at the intersection of College Street SE and SE 6th Avenue, they were hit by a car, police said.

Reports said the driver of the car remained at the scene and tried to help police. No alcohol or drugs were suspected in the accident, reports said.
