lawlorSEATTLE — A former associate pastor at the First Baptist Church in Everett who was arrested for trying to pay a 16-year-old girl for sex in a Seattle police sting will be jailed for three months and must also attend ‘john school’ — classes that try to dissuade people from patronizing prostitutes, the Everett Herald reported Thursday.

John Lawlor, 55, who has resigned from his church position, pleaded guilty last month to second-degree assault.  He had originally charged with commercial sex abuse of a minor for contacting a fictitious 16-year-old girl online and then trying to meet her at Northgate to pay for sex. But according to the Herald, Lawlor, under an agreement with King County prosecutors, admitted that he intended to assault a 16-year-old girl, who, in reality, was an undercover Seattle police detective.

Lawlor was sentenced in King County Superior Court on Sept. 27.
