SEATTLE -- Can cupcakes help fight depression? They will this weekend when the "Depressed Cake Shop" visits Capitol Hill.

The "Depressed Cake Shop" is an international project to help raise awareness and funds while "baking against depression."

Bakers and artists use only gray colored cakes and baked goods to represent depression and mental illness. On the inside however, the goods are brightly colored to symbolize hope.

The idea was conceived by Emma Cakehead in the United Kingdom and so far more than 30 Depressed Cake Shops have popped up all over the world.

The Sole Repair Shop will host the cake shop Saturday, Oct. 5 from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.

Volunteers will be selling themed baked goods and visual art to raise money and awareness for the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI).
