crimesceneSEATTLE — Police are looking for suspects in an early morning robbery near the University of Washington that left a pair of students without cash or their cellphones.

According to the Seattle Police Department, two male students were walking southbound just after 1 a.m. in the 5000 block of 18th Avenue NE when they were approached by a suspect with a gun. The man allegedly pointed the handgun at the victims and told them he wanted “all their stuff,” police said. The suspect then went through the victims’ pockets, grabbing money from their wallets and stealing their cellphones. The suspect smashed one cellphone on the ground before fleeing southbound on foot.

Three other suspects were in the area and may have assisted in the robbery as lookouts, police said. The primary suspect is described as a black male in his 20s with a slim build and near 6-feet tall. He was wearing a white shirt and blue jeans.

The robbery comes near the start of the university’s school year, and on the toes of a school year that saw an above average number of armed robberies in the University District. This is also the second armed robbery in the area in a week.

Anyone with information on the robbery should call 911.
