Kurt Cobain's childhood home for sale
ABERDEEN -- Those looking for a piece of rock history --or a fixer-upper --can now look into purchasing rock legend Kurt Cobain's childhood home.
The home, listed as a four-bedroom one-bath Bungalow near the intersection of Chicago Avenue and East 1st Street in Aberdeen, is being sold on the website www.theagencyre.com.
According to the website, the Godfather of Grunge lived in the home from when he was a few months old until he was nine, and then again from when he was 16 until about 20. The residence is still largely persevered and features many of Kurt's belongings, including the rock legend's childhood mattress, the rug in his room, etchings he carved into the walls and more.
"The home is an amazing look into Kurt's past," the real estate agency said. "Everything is still more or less preserved and captures his early years that led to his legendary career."
The home won't come cheap. Last appraised at around $60,000 face-value, the artifact has a $500,000 price tag. But the home comes with some upside, agents said, as it has turned into a destination landmark and could easily be converted into either a museum or a vacation rental.
"Homes like Kurt Cobain's can also be used as vacation rentals, such as the last home Jim Morrison owned in Hollywood," the website read.
Those looking for a spacious lot in Aberdeen but don't necessarily need the rock lore should probably look elsewhere, as similar three-bedroom two-bath homes are on sale for $120,000.
