U.S. Marshals catch accused Grant County killer in Spokane

vasFUGITIVE CAPTURED: The Grant County Sheriff's Office says accused killer, Anthony Vasquez, was arrested by Spokane Police and U.S. Marshals in Spokane on Saturday night. Spokane Police say around 6:00pm, law enforcement officers received information that Vasquez was at an address at 18100 E Alki in Spokane Valley. Officers from Spokane Police Department’s Patrol Anti-Crime Team (PACT), SWAT and K-9 teams, along with U.S. Marshals, set up a perimeter around the house and worked to communicate with Vasquez in an attempt to get him to come out of the home and into custody safely. Vasquez ran out of the backdoor of the residence and SPD K-9 quickly located him. He was apprehended by SPD SWAT officers after a short foot pursuit in the area around 9:30pm. WANTED IN GRANT COUNTY September 20, 2013 -- Detectives in Grant County say accused killer, Anthony Vasquez, gunned down a man outside a Moses Lake mini-mart on Tuesday night -- shooting into a car -- that also had a six year old child sitting inside. He’s considered ‘armed and dangerous’, and has $1 million warrant out for his arrest. Right after the shooting at the "Airport Grocery Mart" on Patton Blvd., Moses Lake police officers and Grant County Sheriff’s deputies surrounded a trailer park just miles from the mini-mart, where cops thought Vasquez was barricaded inside one of the mobile homes. They did find his getaway car there -- but no trace of him. “Law enforcement sees a lot of terrible crimes that happen every day. What bothers us the most is that Anthony Vasquez shot his guy right in front of his girlfriend and 6 year old son in the car. That's what's driving us even more to bring him to justice,” says Kyle Foreman with the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. “We really need the public's help to find Vasquez. We really want to bring him into custody. We have great cooperation with the public in Grant County when they give us the tips and other information to help find criminals, and we need that help right now.” They think he's still hiding around Grant County, and have already arrested his accused getaway driver. Anthony Vasquez is 23 years old, 5’5”, 180 lbs.
