Man hospitalized after near-drowning at hotel pool

A 32-year-old man is recovering at Harborview Medical Center after a near-drowning in a hotel pool.

It happened just before 3 a.m. Wednesday at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel near the Seattle Center. Police say three people went to hotel's closed pool after drinking much of the nigh. During the swim, one man sank to the bottom of the pool. According to investigators, the man's friends thought he was joking around and continued swimming.

A hotel employee found the three people in the pool and asked them to leave. Police say that's when they realized the man was really drowning.

His friends were able to pull him out of the pool and call police.

Two police officers already in the area performed CPR on the man. He was then transported to the local hospital.

There was no word on his condition at 10:40 a.m. Wednesday.
