Gas prices stable in the Puget Sound

SEATTLE - Despite an increase in gas prices nationwide, prices in Seattle fell about one cent in the past week, to $3.73 a gallon.

That's according to the gas-price tracking website GasBuddy.com.

Nationwide, gas prices increased four cents to $3.61, which is still below the local average.

Gas prices are down about 33 cents from the same holiday weekend last year, when gas prices were over $4 a gallon.

"Over just the long weekend Americans saved nearly 300 million dollars over what was spent for the four-day weekend last year," said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan.

DeHaan says the unrest in Syria seems to only be causing a relatively small blip in gas prices.
