vaughnTACOMA — A 19-year-old man who was ordering his father’s girlfriend out of his mobile home and allegedly threatening her and her adult son with a chainsaw if they did not leave the property was shot and killed Monday night by the woman’s son, authorities said Tuesday.

But the shooter was not arrested because it appeared to be self-defense, Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer.

Troyer added that the case will be turned over to the Pierce County Prosecutor’s Office.

He said the trouble started at about 11:30 p.m. Monday in the 16800 block of 82nd Street NW in the town of Vaughn, on the Key Peninsula. The victim was ordering his father’s girlfriend and her 27-year-old son to leave their property.

When the woman refused, the victim allegedly started the chainsaw, began waving it around and made threats about cutting people.

The woman’s son shot the 19-year-old dead with one shot to the head, Troyer said.

This is an obvious one-sided story. This story is coming from the girl and the 27-year-old and probably his dad. I hope the truth is reached in this. Why did they want him to leave in the first place? Im sure there was a reason. If he want them to leave, threatened, and told to leave why didn’t they just leave the house and call the cops then? Instead they have to make the whole situation worse. The 27-year-old decides to shoot this kid in the head and kill him. I hope the right thing is done.

I agree. This is obviously one side of the story. If he seemed to pose a threat, why wouldn't you call the police. If you felt the need to stop him, you could have done so without fatally wounding him. Without shooting him in the head. There is no one to tell his side of the story. My family knew Chase. He did not deserve his life to end this way. It seems people were out to get him in a bad way. I hope the truth comes out. My heart goes out to his sister, his mom and those who loved him cared.
